1. Indoor use environment
For fans in indoor environments, there are usually milder temperatures, humidity and pollution levels. In this environment, the fan's protective cover mainly needs to meet the following points:
Appearance and quiet effect: Fans in indoor environments are usually used in home or office environments. The appearance of the protective cover is very important and usually needs to meet certain design aesthetics. Since indoor use occasions have certain requirements for noise, the design of the protective cover should also minimize noise.
Material selection: In this environment, commonly used materials are stainless steel, aluminum alloy and plastic (such as ABS, polycarbonate). Stainless steel and aluminum alloy have good corrosion resistance and modern appearance. Plastic materials are lighter and suitable for some low-end or mid-range household fans.
Aperture and ventilation: Since the air circulation in the indoor environment is relatively stable, the fan has higher requirements for ventilation effect. The aperture of the protective cover should be designed to be moderate to ensure that the air circulation is not too obstructed, but it can also effectively prevent the entry of dust and foreign matter. Usually, a round hole or hexagonal hole with a larger diameter is selected to maximize air circulation.
Cleaning and maintenance: The shield for indoor use environment also needs to be easy to clean and maintain, especially in places where dust accumulates quickly (such as kitchens, living rooms, etc.). Shields made of plastic or galvanized metal materials are easier to clean, while shields made of stainless steel need to consider whether the surface is easy to adhere to dirt.
2. Outdoor use environment
Fans in outdoor environments face more challenges, especially factors such as temperature, humidity and air pollution. The selection of outdoor fan shields needs to focus on higher corrosion resistance, strength and waterproof functions.
Corrosion resistance: Fan shields in outdoor environments must have high corrosion resistance. Common materials include stainless steel, aluminum alloy, galvanized steel, etc., which can maintain good durability in humid, rainy and sunny environments. Stainless steel and aluminum alloy are the most commonly used materials because they are not only corrosion-resistant, but also have strong oxidation resistance and can resist erosion in the outdoor environment.
Waterproof function: If the fan is used outdoors or in humid areas, waterproof performance is essential. The shield needs to have a good waterproof design and adopt a closed or waterproof coating. IP ratings (such as IP44 and IP65) can be used as a basis for selection. IP44 means protection against water splashes, while IP65 means complete dustproof and able to withstand water spray, which is suitable for fans in outdoor or harsh environments.
Wind resistance: Outdoor fans often face strong winds or climate changes, especially in stormy weather and strong wind environments. The protective cover needs to be designed to be stable and durable, and able to withstand external impact. The structure of the protective cover needs to be more sturdy, and galvanized steel or thickened stainless steel materials are often used.
Anti-ultraviolet function: Outdoor fan protective covers should also have anti-ultraviolet function to prevent material aging under long-term exposure, especially plastic protective covers. Ultraviolet radiation will accelerate the embrittlement and discoloration of plastics, and plastic materials with UV resistance or coating should be selected.
3. High temperature or industrial environment
In high temperature or industrial environments, fan protective covers must meet more stringent requirements, such as high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, impact resistance, etc., to ensure the safe operation of the fan.
High temperature resistant materials: Fans in industrial environments often operate in high temperature environments (such as welding workshops, electrical equipment, etc.). It is crucial to choose high temperature resistant materials. Common high-temperature resistant materials include stainless steel, aluminum alloy and high-temperature plastic. Especially in high-temperature environments, the heat resistance of the protective cover must be guaranteed to prevent the protective cover from deformation or cracking due to excessive temperature.
Chemical corrosion resistance: Toxic gases, chemicals or oil pollution may exist in industrial environments, which can easily cause corrosion to the surface of the protective cover. The protective cover should be made of materials that are resistant to chemical corrosion, such as stainless steel, aluminum alloy or metal materials with sprayed anti-corrosion coating.
Impact-resistant design: In industrial environments, Fan Guard may be affected by collisions, vibrations or other external forces. At this time, the impact resistance of the protective cover is particularly important. Protective covers made of steel or cast iron usually have good impact resistance and can effectively protect the fan from damage.
Dust-proof design: Many industrial environments are full of dust, particulate matter, etc., which can easily enter the fan and affect its working efficiency. The protective cover needs to have better dust-proof function, such as a sealed design or a protective cover with a smaller aperture, which can effectively prevent the entry of dust and foreign matter.
4. Special environment applications
In some special environments, such as food processing plants, medical institutions or laboratories, the fan shield needs to meet more stringent safety and hygiene standards.
Food industry: In the food processing or pharmaceutical industry, the material of the shield needs to meet food-grade hygiene requirements. The shield needs to be made of materials that are not easy to rust and easy to clean, such as stainless steel, and needs to meet relevant hygiene standards.
Medical industry: Fan shields in medical equipment usually need to have antibacterial functions and non-toxicity to ensure that they do not pollute the use environment. The surface of the shield should also be easy to clean to prevent bacterial growth.
