Axial Fans are designed for a range of cooling applications such as equipment rooms, laundries, warehouses and factories. They are typically fitted with a motor that drives a rotating shaft on which skewed fan blades are mounted. Often used as an alternative to ducting, they extract air from the machine into which they are installed and push it out into a direction that is parallel to the shaft on which the fan blades are mounted.
They are ideally suited as a substitute for ductwork as they do not require any additional equipment such as a V-belt or belt drive. This eliminates the possibility of shaft seal leakage and allows for easier maintenance as the fans can be replaced without removing the motor from the machine.
Unlike internal motors, which frame the stationary component (stators) fixed to the motor housing with the rotating component (rotor) located inside the stator and transmitting torque through the output shaft, external rotor motors have the rotor integrated into the fan impeller. This eliminates the need for an output shaft reducing the overall footprint of the motor and impeller combination and also improves motor performance as heat is dissipated directly into the airstream allowing higher speeds to be achieved with low cost voltage variation.
External rotor motors are designed to suit the impeller they are paired with which improves accuracy of balance, precision balancing, smooth and quiet operation as well as being suitable for low-cost electronic control. The motor’s larger air gap also helps to increase the inertia of the motor helping to smooth out load fluctuations and provide a consistent torque output.
Our external rotor motor fans are available in AC and DC versions and have been extensively tested using structural finite element analysis, strength check, modal analysis, harmonic response analysis as well as dynamometer testing to ensure they are of the highest quality and safe for use in any application. They can be supplied with a capacitor box or electrical wire depending on your preference and all of our fans have passed UL approval in America, RHOS, CE approval in Europe as well as CCC safety certificate in China.
